No other form of travel can do this in such a way. You will have the adventure of a lifetime!
The WORLD EXPLORER series:
The World Series is our plan to circumnavigate the world in 4x4 vehicles. This will cover seven continents and tens of thousands of miles.
The route will be mainly on tarmac and gravel. Extreme 4x4 driving is rarely undertaken in the World Series so it will not be taxing on the body. We have had a 77 year old man on our expeditions who had the time of his life! Of course there needs to be a basic level of fitness but for the World Series we aim to make you feel as comfortable as possible so you can fully enjoy the thrill of travelling 4x4 across amazing environments, so you do not have to be super man or woman. If you have a condition that may concern you then please feel free to contact us and we can advise.
We will visit many “must see” tourist attractions as well as “off the beaten track” wonders and sites, our 4x4 vehicles making this form of travel uniquely possible.
People who bring their own cars will be the main drivers of their vehicles but we strongly recommend that you arrange for a co-driver as we will sometimes travel for over 12 hours. In terms of which vehicles will be suitable for the World Series expeditions, as well as accessories, please contact us for further information. You do not have to be an experienced driver but you must have at least a few years’ driving experience. You will be safe within our convoy, led by the expedition leader at the front and the sweeper at the back. No one will get left behind! All cars will have CB radios and so constant communication with all vehicles at all driving times will be part of the everyday experience.
Our accommodation in major cities will be of 4 to 5 star quality, such as Melia, Crown Plaza, Hilton, etc., but we always arrange for some unique homely/privately owned hotels, which offer a much more personal touch as well as more of a feel for the country, which is the experience we are all in quest of. Rest assured the standard of our chosen accommodation will ensure a good night’s rest. On some routes there will be camping, and we always provide the equipment, but we recommend that you bring some of your own personal camping comfort items. This will be luxury camping and nothing too tough for those who may be a bit concerned. We always make sure there are good toilet facilities, running water and warm showers.
Food is an essential part of our travelling experiences and, although it is difficult to please everyone, we will cater for people according to their religious or health requirements. Part of travel is to experience all the wonderful culinary delights of the world but we are aware that some people may not be so adventurous. For those people we will try our best to have an option that is suitable, provided we are given enough time and warning to be able to prepare accordingly.
While on the road we have to keep the convoy in order and the expedition leader’s schedules for each daily departure must be kept by each participant. Failure to do so will put the whole expedition at risk of delay. On the road we will take requests for breaks for freshening up or photo shoots via our 4x4 CB radio communications but the decision will be made by the expedition leader. Every morning the expedition leader will give a briefing on the day ahead and any questions you may have can be raised then. During location stops where we stay for a few nights, mainly cities, we tend to organise a tour or at least suggest places to visit but we always allow free time for our participants to do whatever they wish to see or do - as long as they are ready to roll out on the day and time of departure.
Crossing borders during our expedition will be organised by us. However, you must be prepared with all the right documentation and we will advise in this matter. Everyone will be responsible for their own documentation and entry administration and legal requirements for the respective countries. Generally, we always have diplomatic acknowledgment of our arrival beforehand, which can sometimes help smooth over the process.
The JUNGLE EXPLORER series:
The Jungle Explorer is focused on our home turf, Malaysia. Here you’ll find one of the oldest rainforests in the world. These expeditions are a lot shorter than our other expeditions, ranging from 2 - 10 days. People who come on these will experience the jungle in a very unique way. Our team has well over a decade of experience in our rainforest giving you the safest and extra special taste of life in the jungle.
This will be very much off-roading and, once in the jungle, you will not see anything that looks like a road. Elephant tracks and mud holes are the order of this jungle!
Be prepared to get hot, muddy, sweaty, as well as using winches and shovels, for a once in a lifetime experience!
The WILDERNESS EXPLORER series:
This will take you to specially selected wondrous wilderness locations in the world. Our 4x4 vehicles enable us to take and guide you into viewing nature in its amazing glory. We shall ensure plenty of nourishment and comfortable-as-we-can-make-it accommodation, bearing in mind we will be in the wild!
The ACTIVE ADVENTURE series:
This will combine adventure sports with 4x4s. We'll find locations for diving, rock climbing, canoeing and snowboarding, etc., and drive there with our 4x4s for your chosen active adventure. This series is also open to activities such as fishing and birdwatching as we can access locations where others cannot.
WORD FROM THE TEAM:
We take the time and great effort to create the itineraries and routes, which are all prepared months (even years) in advance of the expeditions. We personally meet the local ground support team and scout out the locations in the countries we visit during our reconnaissance missions (recces). However, we, at 4x4 World Explorer, believe in flexibility as thrilling events are often created in themselves while on the road. We expect the unexpected, which is all part of the Fun, Freedom and Spirit of Adventure that you will surely experience!
